Tom Ferree serves as CEO of Connected Nation. Tom provides vision and leadership, guiding Connected Nation’s industry-leading efforts to bridge the digital divide and bring economic vitality to communities through technology.

Under his leadership, the Connected Nation portfolio has expanded to include 30 states and thousands of communities, as well as recognition and sector acclaim as the national leader in broadband mapping, planning, and program implementation. Among Connected Nation’s pioneering efforts to expand broadband to unserved and underserved communities during Tom’s tenure is the development of the Connected Community Engagement Program, where communities gather technology champions to evaluate the current state of adoption, access, and use of broadband and then formulate an action plan with measurable, implementable solutions.

In 2013, Tom oversaw the launch of two new innovative programs, Digital Works: Connecting People & Jobs which is creating telework opportunities in areas with high unemployment and Edified, an education initiative that seeks to increase the deployment of the latest mobile technology, robust wireless connectivity, education apps, and twenty-first century teaching practice in America’s K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.

In 2010, Business First honored Tom among “Forty under 40” outstanding business leaders in Louisville. Tom is a certified Project Management Professional and a graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky with a bachelor of arts in economics.
